Do you need a gut hook?
A gut hook can be useful when gutting the animal, however, if the animal (moose, caribou) is skinned from the back, then quarters are removed, back-strap, neck and tenderloin retro-peritoneally, then one does not have to enter the chest cavity, or gut cavity and the knife blade does not require a gut hook.
